Microsoft is embracing Linux-like command line utilities and integrating its Linux subsystem even further into Windows.

WWDC26で発表された、Mac上で軽量のLinux環境を提供できる新機能が「Container machine」です。Container machineは高速でありながら軽量かつ永続的で、標準的なOCIイメージに基づき構築・共有でき、ユーザーやホームディレクトリの自動共有などのホスト統合機能により、ターミナル内のどこからでもLinux環境に素早く簡単にアクセスすることが可能となります。

"Linux is a huge success in China, and there is enormous potential for widespread Linux adoption across all market sectors," said Chris Zhao, executive president of Red Flag, in a statement Monday.
