The operation forms part of the city’s drive to reclaim the inner city from illegal activity. Officials say the SA Centre building on Lilian Ngoyi Street owes the city around R11 million in unpaid utilities and rates. The city has also begun removing signage from stores attached to historic buildings in the CBD.
